Mother's Day

Such truth holds to the quote above. Mothers hold a special place in everyone's hearts and while we all have our own description of what a mother is...they are the light of the world.

I have been blessed to be mum to D (7) and O (2) and my journey to motherhood is something that I still cannot comprehend in the right words. It is as complex as the emotional rollercoaster ride that it always brings me every single day. The feeling that your heart is in two individual beings that look up to you and ask you all these questions and make you the center of their universe. I have chosen to enjoy this while I still can as I know years can only go by so fast that they will soon have their own lives and make their own choices that I am but a mere presence to them.

We all have different notions of what a mother is and should be. And while I am truly blessed to have a great mother, I also know that I will be a completely different one from her as I am my own person. But having been taught to be a strong woman, a passionate fighter, a willful individual and a faithful wife; I owe these virtues to my Mum. She has been a great example to what to be and what I choose not to be in the world.

While I can only pray and hope that I am a good example to my children every single day; motherhood, is without a doubt, one of the most challenging roles to ever take on. To be stewards of these children who will be citizens of the world, I pray that I am molding them to be the best that they can be of themselves.
